In Shayam Benegal’s Mahadev we see a totally different Amrita Rao in a complete Rural look with a Bhojpuri dialect, a role we can imagine only Actress’s of the caliber of Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil doing justice to.“ Amrita has done full justice to the role of Kamla with an award wining performance in Mahadev ka Sajjanpur ” says director Shyam Benegal.

Amrita says she believes in playing different characters everytime which makes her very choosy about the roles she takes up and the movies she signs, in a constant attempt to give her audience a little bit of a New Amrita each time. Somebody is following Aamir’s footsteps.
